The 2025 Chevrolet Suburban vs the 2024 Suburban

The Suburban is the largest family vehicle that Chevrolet makes and the 2025 model will continue that tradition while expanding it with new features and a more powerful engine option. GM has announced that the Suburban will be produced starting in October and should arrive toward the end of the year.

Once again, the Chevy Suburban will offer three rows and room for up to eight people. Compared to the 2024 model, the 2025 Suburban will have larger information screens as well as other enhancements. Here's a comparison of the 2025 Chevy Suburban and the 2024 model that's available right now at Ray Chevrolet in Abbeville, LA.

Here's how the 2025 Suburban differs from the 2024 model

For 2025, the Chevy Suburban will have restyled headlights with updated fascias as well as redesigned taillights. It will offer new digital displays, updated interior design and remote vehicle monitoring with a Connected Camera feature. It will also have steering and suspension adjustments along with new paint choices that include Cypress Gray and Lakeshore Blue Metallic. Finally, the 2025 Chevy Suburban will have wheel options of up to 24 inches, the largest this full-size SUV has ever offered.

Engines and performance choices

The standard engine in the 2025 Suburban is a 5.3-liter V8 with 355 horsepower plus 383 pound-feet of torque, and that's the same as the 2024 model. You can get a bigger 6.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower as well 460 pound-feet of torque and that's also a continuation from 2024. The time from zero to 60 mph in the standard 5.3-liter V8 is about 7.6 seconds while the higher level 6.2-liter V8 can hit the same milestone in just over 6.0 seconds. New for 2025, Chevy offers a 3.0-liter Duramax® turbodiesel that offers more output than it did in 2024, getting up to 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque.

The turbodiesel engine empowers Lafayette and New Iberia drivers to tow 8100 pounds while the 5.3-liter V8 towing has a slightly higher max of 8300 pounds. The Suburban lets you choose either rear- or all-wheel drive and it can include an adjustable air suspension system as well as adaptive dampers. If you invest in the Z71 off-road model you'll be rolling with 20-inch wheels and all-terrain tires. You'll also get four-wheel drive, underbody skid plats and a two-speed transfer case. As you'd expect, the best gas mileage is available in the diesel model with 21 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway and that's the same as the 2024 Suburban diesel.

Technology upgrades for 2025

The 2024 Chevy Suburban came with a standard 8.0-inch infotainment display and a 4.2-inch instrument cluster screen. Available upgrades for 2024 were a 12.0-inch customizable digital instrument cluster and a 10.2-inch infotainment touch screen. For 2025, the Chevy Suburban has raised its visual game considerably. The new 2025 Suburban will have a massive 17.7-inch infotainment screen on every model as well as an 11.0-inch digital instrument cluster.
